Though the use of the word ‘tone poem’ here isn’t exact, that’s basically what we’re doing. In the way that Sergei Rachmaninoff used Arnold Böcklin‘s painting ‘The Isle of the Dead‘ as a starting point for his piece of the same name, we’ve used the painter Abdul Mati Klarwein‘s work Annunciation as ours.
